Former NFL Star Indicted For Drugs, Rape- in 3 States

Darren Sharper, former New Orleans Saint, was indicted Friday by a Louisiana grand jury on two counts of aggravated rape, additions to his latest accumulation of rape charges in two other states.

A statement from the U.S. DOJ reads that the former star and five-time Pro Bowl selection was also charged in a federal drug indictment handed down by another Louisiana grand jury with “conspiracy to distribute Alprazolam, Diazepam and Zolpidem with intent to commit rape and two counts of distributing these substances with intent to commit rape.”

The nine-count indictment from the District Attorney’s Office alleges that Sharper sexually assaulted two women who were impaired at his New Orleans apartment in 2013. Bail on those charges has been set at $2.5 million.

Each of the three federal counts carries a maximum 20 years in prison and a fine of $250,000.
