Drew Brees achieves rare feat in 35-32 win at Pittsburgh

(WGNO) – It hadn’t happened in the NFL in 10 years, until Saints quarterback Drew Brees did it Sunday.

According to Saints stat man Tommy Cooper, Brees was the first quarterback since Peyton Manning in 2004 to throw 5 touchdown passes with 257 passing yards or less in a regular season road game.

Manning did it for the Colts at Detroit on November 25, 2004. Manning threw for 236 yards and 6 touchdowns.

Brees had his first 5 touchdown pass game of the season in Sunday’s win over the Steelers.

According to Cooper, this was the second time that Brees threw 5 touchdown passes with 19 or fewer completions.
