Atlanta Falcons receiver Devin Hester showed plenty of flash as he set the NFL record for most career touchdown returns, taking a 62 yard punt return to the house at the Georgia Dome to give the Falcons a 35-0 second quarter lead over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
As Hester breezed into the end zone, he decided to pay tribute to the man whose record he broke, mimicking Deion Sanders’ patented high step on his way past the goal line. It was great timing, breaking the record in the building where Sanders got his NFL start and with Prime Time watching in person as part of the Thursday Night Football crew.
So how did the refs on the field commemorate this special moment? They gave Hester a 15-yard penalty for taunting. Of course they did.
