Sky News apologises over reporter going through MH17 victim’s luggage at crash site

Sky News has officially apologised after showing footage of one of its reporters sifting through a victim’s luggage at the MH17 crash site.

The reporter, Colin Brazier, was at the crash site in Ukraine and appeared to lift and move items that were in an open piece of hand luggage amid the wreckage.

Brazier quickly realised what he was doing was inappropriate and was heard to say ‘we really shouldn’t be doing this’.

But the handling of victims belongings at the crash site sparked a furious response on social media, with most comments branding the broadcast ‘outrageous’, and many calling for the reporter to be disciplined over his actions.
