MADISONVILLE, La. (WGNO) – Police and school officials in the St. Tammany Parish Public Schools system spent much of Wednesday night and Thursday morning investigating an alleged school shooting plot.
According to Meredith Mendez, the school system’s spokesperson, administrators received information late Wednesday night that two students from Madisonville Junior High allegedly made threats against other students.
In a letter being sent home with students today, Madisonville Jr. High’s principal Dwayne Kern said the two students have been removed from school pending the outcome of an investigation.
“We continue to work closely with the law enforcement officers, and will be taking all necessary disciplinary actions to ensure the safety at our school. We take all threats, whether real or a hoax, very seriously,” Kern said.
The school is open today.
