Indiana man’s Facebook posts lead to arrest for making, selling alcohol

Ahh the internet growing pains where anyone can boast about their illegal activities thinking they are too clever to be caught.


TELL CITY (April 4, 2014) – A man who produced his own liquor and then sold it boasted about it on Facebook, leading to his arrest, excise police say.

The investigation by Indiana State Excise Police started in February, when someone tipped officers off about Facebook posts featuring the still. Additional photos appeared to show a Tell City man was making alcohol and then selling it, untaxed.

Officers searched a home in the 600 block of 12th Street Thursday and seized a distilling apparatus and liquid produced by it. They also found a hydrometer and other equipment used in the operation.
