BATON ROUGE – The U. S. Marshals Service added an escaped murderer who disappeared from a St. Gabriel women’s prison to their 15 Most Wanted fugitive list today.

Keana Barnes escaped from the Louisiana Correctional Institute for Women on Jan. 1. Prison officials said they found her jail cell window broken, and believe she climbed over several fences before making it off the prison grounds.

The Marshals Service said Barnes was serving a 25-year sentence for two counts of manslaughter. They said in 2002 she stabbed someone to death 17 times, then shot and killed another person while awaiting trial for the first murder. She escaped to Mexico, where she was caught and extradited in 2003.
