The driver of a truck that plunged from the Lake [Pontchartrain] Causeway into the water Wednesday evening was found Friday morning, authorities said. The driver was identified as Christopher Sergeant, 39, of New Orleans.

His body was found by searchers from the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office Friday morning, near the site where the truck was located in the lake on Thursday. Sergeant was driving a dump truck southbound Wednesday around 5 p.m. when his truck was reported to have taken out several sections of guardrail and gone over the side of the bridge around 4.5 miles from the Metairie end of the span.
