Vernon Parish, LA: 10-Month-Old Tests Positive for Meth

LEESVILLE, La. – Two people are in custody Tuesday after medical officials say a 10-month-old baby tested positive for meth.

Vernon Parish Sheriff Sam Craft said on Jan. 17, the Beauregard Memorial Hospital emergency room team concluded that the baby had been exposed to the narcotic, Craft said.

Detectives say when they interviewed the child’s mother, Heather Jenkins, 22, of Rosepine, she admitted that the child “may have inadvertently” been exposed to the drug.

During the course of the investigation, detectives seized 1.75 ounces of meth with a street value of $5,760 at the home of Michael Moore, 55, on J.P. Calcote Road in the Rosepine area, Craft said.
