New Orleans man fatally shot by auto shop owner identified by Orleans Parish Coroner

The man fatally shot by an auto shop owner during a dispute Thursday night in the Lafitte neighborhood has been identified by the Orleans Parish Coroner. Eric Dorsey, 28, was shot multiple times outside of the Easy Finish Auto shop in the 300 block of N. Galvez Street shortly after 9 p.m., said John Gagliano,the coroner’s chief investigator.

A civil dispute between an auto shop owner and a customer turned deadly Thursday night in the Lafitte neighborhood. After conducting a preliminary investigation, NOPD homicide detectives believed the 25-year-old owner of Easy Finish Auto was likely justified in fatally shooting a 28-year-old man who had made threats and pointed a pistol at him, said officer Frank Robertson III, spokesman for the New Orleans Police Department.
