A 28-year old man was listed in critical condition Tuesday night after being shot in the chest by someone who entered his parents’ home in the 88-hundred block Hickory Street.
New Orleans Police said Tuesday night his family rushed to help, holding down the gunman until police arrived.
The alleged attacker is identified as 19-year old Terrance Hampton.
Family identified the victim as Edward Hilton, whose mother spoke exclusively on the matter with WGNO News.
Tranecia Smith described her son, Hilton, as a hard-working family man.
“He works, takes care of his family. He don’t bother nobody. He’s a good kid. Ain’t never been in trouble in his life, finished school, got a degree, everything,” Smith said.
Hilton was rushed to University Hospital after the shooting.
