HOUMA, La. —
After beating his girlfriend and shooting a man in the leg in an argument, Houma police arrested a 19-year-old man in connection with the crimes.
Houma police said the shooting happened in the 500 block of East Street on Wednesday about 11:28 p.m.
When officers arrived, they said they found a 21-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to his thigh. The man told police that Henry Allridge Jr., 19, had shot him after an argument escalated in relation to Allridge beating his girlfriend.
Police said Allridge became enraged when his girlfriend refused to leave with him. When she refused, he began punching her repeatedly in the face, choking her and bit her on the neck, according to police.
Police found Allridge Thursday morning and arrested him on charges of attempted second-degree murder, domestic abuse battery by strangulation, simple battery and simple criminal battery.
