LAPD Will No Longer Provide Info To Media On Celeb ‘Swatting’ Pranks

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The Los Angeles Police Department said Thursday that they will no longer offer immediate information to the media on bogus 911 calls that target celebrity homes.

“We think that whoever is doing this is motivated by watching the police on TV and watching the helicopters come in, and we don’t want to allow that opportunity,” said Cmdr. Andrew Smith.

Smith said the department will also stop broadcasting the “swatting” calls so news organizations can’t hear the location of the star’s home. The media will now have to file a public records request, which can take 10 days.

When asked if residents have the right to know about a potential safety concern, Smith said, “Our officers will always talk to the families and the people who live in the neighborhoods about what’s going on and reassure them that it’s not an actual emergency there. What we won’t do is broadcast the street to the media, we won’t broadcast whose house it was.”

Scientology leader’s niece reveals Church secrets

AFP - The Church of Scientology has lashed out at a new book by its leader’s niece, which recounts a stolen childhood and how she was brainwashed and cut off from her family before eventually escaping.

In “Beyond Belief: My Secret Life Inside Scientology And My Harrowing Escape,” Jenna Miscavige-Hill — whose uncle David Miscavige runs the secretive group — also claims she was forced to work as a child.

But a spokesman for the Church said her claims were “false” and denounced “efforts to exploit Mr Miscavige’s name.”

“The Church has long respected the family unit while accommodating and helping those raising children,” Karin Pouw, spokeswoman for the Church of Scientology International, told AFP.

“The Church does not engage in any activities that mistreat, neglect or force children to engage in manual labor. The Church follows all laws with respect to children,” she said, accusing Miscavige-Hill of “apostate behavior.”

In the book, published in February, the 29-year-old tells of hard labour she and other children were forced to do in the 1990s in the Ranch, in a remote part of the California desert.

The Ranch, near San Jacinto, 90 miles (150 kilometers) southeast of Los Angeles, was “like a military boot camp, with grueling drills, endless musters, exhaustive inspections, and arduous physical labor that no child should have to do.”

‘No Emergencies’ Reported After Bright Light Seen In SoCal Skies

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A streak of light that apparently sparked several reports across Southern California was not considered to be a public threat, according to fire officials.

Over 40 reports from eyewitnesses around the Southland and statewide reported the sight to the American Meteor Society (AMS) around approximately 10:30 p.m. on Thursday night.

Los Angeles In Sync: Traffic Signals To Cut Travel Times

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa was expected to flip the switch on Tuesday on a final traffic intersection system that will result in the synchronization of all of nearly 4,400 traffic signals in Los Angeles.

KNX 1070′s Pete Demetriou reports L.A. is about to become the first major city in the world to synchronize all of its traffic signals.

From KCal 9 News around 1:30 PM PST – Sorry, I don’t own a PVC so I had to use my phone. I have this footage saved on my DVR.

Edit: To address comments: No, I did not edit this. This is recorded with my cellphone. This was recorded by reporter Carter Evans. It is not radio chatter that is being heard. He says earlier in the broadcast, (which I can also upload) that he is speaking to them via his speakerphone on the ground from the middle of the shootout, and the cops can also be heard telling him “get the fuck out of here pal”. The timestamp of this event is ~1:35pm.

When you listen to these police radio transmissions, it is pretty obvious that the surrounding agencies who are departing in a big hurry dont want to be associated with what happened. Two pickup trucks were used for target practice with people inside who were never given a chance to get out of harms way. The wounded were allowed to bleed for some 15 or so minutes while police tried to decide if they were feeling safe enough to allow medical attention to tend to their victims.
Our wonderful media went on to describe these victims as somehow matching Christopher Dorner. For the record nothing matched. Not the color of the vehicles, not the color of the occupants. Not the models of trucks…Nothing at all.

Students Told to Stop ‘USA!’ Chant, Take Off American Flag Bandanas

Four California high-school students were reportedly suspended for chanting “U.S.A! U.S.A!” and wearing American flag bandanas during a basketball game. While their punishment has since been rescinded, school administrators said “the incident is far from over.”

Oxnard Union School District superintendent Gabe Soumakian told Fox News Radio that “we need to pursue this further” and “work with teachers and students and the community about the concept of cultural proficiency.” Soumakian and Camarillo High School principal Glenn Lipman felt that the students’ actions might have had racist undertones since the schools have large Hispanic student populations.

“We wanted to make sure [their actions weren't] racially motivated, and I told the kids I just want to be sensitive to the feelings of everybody,” Lipman said. “If we’re doing it for patriotism, that’s fine. But if we’re doing it for something else that’s racially motivated, I’m not going to allow that.”

San Bernardino police officer lands helicopter just to check out a woman exploring and collecting rocks

A San Bernardino police officer piloting a helicopter was caught on camera circling a lone woman in the desert, before landing the chopper and then proceeding to harass her in a ridiculous example of how police resources are being wasted to shake down innocent people.

With many police departments across the country going broke and telling citizens they will no longer be able to respond to crimes like criminal damage and burglaries, the officer’s actions during this incident represent a ludicrous waste of police resources.

It costs well over $2,000 dollars an hour to fuel a police helicopter. The video footage lasts ten minutes, and even after the cop lands the chopper, he keeps the rotator blades switched on during the entire incident.

I am not a fan of Alex Jones, but  he exposes some interesting truths here and there.  If the MSM was doing it’s job Drudge Report wouldn’t have to link to so many Infowars stories, and we wouldn’t have to see all the other stuff that Alex Jones spews just to get a little bit of the truth.

Therein lies the rub.  If you ignore things that make you uncomfortable you can’t really ever be truly informed.

But what do I know?  I’m just an average guy with a blog who looks at a lot of garbage so you don’t have to.
