Last week, LUS Director of Utilities Terry Huval revealed for the first time some of the financial information for LUSFiber. The revealed information showed positive trends for Lafayette’s still relatively new fiber initiative.
Today, Lafayette City-Parish President Joey Durel stopped by “Mornings with Ken and Bernie” for his weekly “Lafayette Live” segment to talk a little more about LUSFiber as well as share some exciting details about what Lafayette citizens can expect in the future.
Durel expanded on last week’s positives signs of growth by discussing the market share numbers LUSFiber has gained since entering the market in 2009.
Now that we’re showing it’s cash positive for the second year in a row it’s time to announce that we have a third of the market. – Joey Durel

The new Google app arrived in my life to the kind of reception reserved for a doctor carrying the results of a biopsy. Did I really want to know?
The blog post announced that the God of the Internet had just delivered another digital miracle. It was now possible to watch 30-year time-lapse photography of any spot on the planet. This innovation expands on the phenomenal product named Google Earth, the one that stitches together satellite images of every inch of our world and offers the results for free. No more secrets or surprises.
Now, just by going to Google Earth Engine and searching for a particular location, you can watch what changes time has wrought since 1984, good or bad.

PHILADELPHIA — Radio host and libertarian activist Adam Kokesh remains in federal custody, charged with felony assault on a federal officer as a result of his arrest at a marijuana legalization event in Philadelphia.
This report also includes…
SANTA MONICA — Owning a firearm is as dangerous as taking shelter under a tree during a thunderstorm, insists Dr. Arthur Kellermann, a physician associated with the Rand Corporation.
ROYAL OAK, Michigan — City Commissioner Patricia Capello of Royal Oak, Michigan is promoting an ordinance that would require owners of dogs considered to be dangerous to obtain a $1 million insurance policy.
PHILADELPHIA — In 2009, Philadelphia police officer Richard DeCoatsworth was seated next to First Lady Michelle Obama during President Obama’s first address to Congress, in which the officer was lauded as a hero. DeCoatsworth is now in jail on multiple sex crime charges.

At approximately 9:15 am on May 23, the posse, concealed in the bushes and almost ready to concede defeat, heard Barrow’s stolen Ford V8 approaching at a high speed. The posse’s official report had Barrow stopping to speak with Henry Methvin’s father, planted there with his truck that morning to distract him and force him into the lane closer to the posse. The lawmen then opened fire, killing Barrow and Parker while shooting a combined total of approximately 130 rounds. All accounts of the ambush, including his own, agree that Oakley fired first, and probably before any order was given to do so.[108][110][111] Barrow was killed instantly by Oakley’s initial head shot, but Parker had a moment to reflect; Hinton reported hearing her scream as she realized Barrow was dead before the shooting at her began in earnest.[108] The officers emptied the specially ordered automatic rifles, as well as other rifles, shotguns, and pistols at the car,[107] and any one of many wounds would have been fatal to either of the fugitives.[112] According to statements made by Ted Hinton and Bob Alcorn:
“Each of us six officers had a shotgun and an automatic rifle and pistols. We opened fire with the automatic rifles. They were emptied before the car got even with us. Then we used shotguns … There was smoke coming from the car, and it looked like it was on fire. After shooting the shotguns, we emptied the pistols at the car, which had passed us and ran into a ditch about 50 yards on down the road. It almost turned over. We kept shooting at the car even after it stopped. We weren’t taking any chances.”[105]

"It's the battle of our times."
But what do I know? I'm just an average guy with a blog.

Betelgeuse (/ˈbiːtəldʒuːz/ or /ˈbɛtəldʒuːz/),[1] also known by its Bayer designation Alpha Orionis (α Orionis, α Ori), is the eighth brightest star in the night sky and second brightest star in the constellation of Orion, outshining Rigel (Beta Orionis) only rarely. Distinctly reddish-tinted, it is a semiregular variable star whose apparent magnitude varies between 0.2 and 1.2, the widest range of any first magnitude star. The star marks the upper right vertex of the Winter Triangle asterism and the center of the Winter Hexagon. http://battleofourtimes.com/
