DC Teacher on FBI’s Most Wanted List Arrested in Nicaragua

MANAGUA, Nicaragua (CBSDC/AP) — A former District of Columbia elementary school teacher on the FBI’s 10 Most Wanted Fugitives List for allegedly producing child pornography has been arrested in Nicaragua, officials say.

The head of detectives for Nicaragua’s National Police force says Eric Justin Toth, 30, was detained near the Honduran border.

Glenda Zavala said Monday that Toth had been detained Saturday, based on an international detention request.

He was a third-grade teacher at Beauvoir, a primary elementary school on the grounds of the Washington National Cathedral, when another teacher found sexually explicit photographs on a school camera in Toth’s possession. He was escorted off campus in June 2008 and disappeared.

Authorities found Toth’s car at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport in August 2008, with a note suggesting he’d committed suicide, but no body was found. The FBI says at the time they had no proof he followed through with…
