ST. BERNARD PARISH, La. —
A woman was arrested after authorities said she slapped a teenager who uses a wheelchair and threw her to the floor.
The St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested 48-year-old Sheila Banks on Monday in the incident on a charge of cruelty to the infirmed – a felony.
Authorities said Banks, who is the guardian of the teen, had an argument with the girl, who cursed at Banks in the altercation.
Banks then slapped the teen, pulled the girl from her wheelchair, causing her to fall to the floor.
