Therand Guy Thacker was convicted today on nine counts of sex crimes against children.

The 10-woman, two-man jury deliberated for just over two hours and through lunch. They found Thacker, 44, from Deville, guilty of two counts of aggravated sexual battery, a reduction of the original charges of aggravated rape.

Thacker also was found him guilty of six counts of aggravated incest, one count of attempted rape and one count of obstruction of justice.

The jury acquitted Thacker of an intimidation of a witness charge.

Woodworth Man Behind Bars

WOODWORTH, La. – RPSO are searching for a man in Woodworth after deputies responded to a domestic disturbance call Thursday morning.

At approximately 8:51 a.m., deputies responded to 402 Bayou Clear Road in Woodworth to check out a domestic disturbance. According to sheriff’s office reports, the incident was reported originally to the Woodworth Police Department which notified RPSO.  Upon arrival, a person had sustained injuries and a small laceration on the neck.

On Thursday afternoon, deputies are searching for John E. McNeal, 48, of 402 Bayou Clear Rd., who reportedly fled the area into the woods near the residence on foot.

DRY PRONG, La. – School officials have evacuated Grant Jr. High School late Thursday morning.

They say police are on the scene based on some information they received, and for student safety, the school has been evacuated.

The scene is expected to be cleared shortly, allowing students to return to class.
