Hammond, La.– State police discovered a fatal accident along the I-12 westbound Pumpkin Center Road off-ramp around noon on Sunday.
According to a press release, a preliminary investigation showed that the crash took place between midnight and 2:00 am Sunday morning.
Fifty-one-year-old Daniel Reno of Hammond was operating a 2011 Harley Davidson motorcycle when he ran off the left side of the off-ramp.
State police say he continued off road for about 200 ft. before he hit a tree.
Investigators suspect that rider impairment was a factor in the crash; however, speed is not considered a factor. A toxicology report is pending.
