“…she realized he was doing it on purpose; that he was holding it out,” said the mother

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

A 63-year-old man is accused of inappropriate behavior involving young girls at a Baton Rouge water park.

The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office said Rudolph Badeaux used goggles to look at young girls under the water in the wave pool at Blue Bayou Water Park.

According to deputies, Badeaux also exposed himself to the girls.

One mother says the man took it a step further and exposed himself to her daughter.

“She didn’t see the harm at first; just thought it was his private parts hanging out of his bathing suit. But the more she saw, she realized he was doing it on purpose; that he was holding it out,” said the mother of one of the victims.

Vietnam veteran walks five miles to mobile health clinic

They fought for their country and now they expect to get the health care they need. But the new Va mobile health clinic is, in some ways, a work in progress.

Veterans cannot swing by and get a checkup the way one might grab a fast food burger. But veterans see it as a big plus and are anxious to get medical care closer to home.

Here amid others at Touisant Trailer Park south of Lake Charles, Vietnam veteran Larry Thibodeaux makes his home. Right next to his front door is a sign he made saying it’s a drug free zone.  Thibodeaux says drugs are a problem in the neighborhood and that he wants no part of it. ”This whole neighborhood’s a problem as far as drugs right now. Hopefully, they’ll see my little sign and stay away from me. I don’t want any drugs in my neighborhood. They got a lot of kids in this neighborhood,”said Thibodeaux.

Thibodeaux no longer drives and says it’s been very difficult to get to Jennings for V.A. Medical care. ”For me to go to Jennings it costs me sixty bucks. That’s paying somebody to run me to Jennings and back. That’s their time, their vehicle, their gas. I pay for their gas and their time and I ain’ got sixty bucks to spare,” said Thibodeaux.

It was so important to him to make it to the new mobile clinic, that he walked nearly five miles to get there. “It took me two bottles of cold water to get there and it was a nice walk except for the heat. I thank God we have a VA clinic. I’ve been praying for one for a while. So, it’s here,” said Thibodeaux.

NEW ORLEANS — State health officials say last month three people in this area contracted the E. coli bacteria. One of them recently died from the illness.

The funeral for the little girl was held Monday. Now the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals has some partial answers.

Family and friends and the Academy of the Sacred Heart Community are mourning the loss of a little girl. Maelan Elizabeth Graffagnini was just 21 months old. She was gravely ill from the E. coli bacteria while fighting for her life at Ochsner Hospital for weeks.

Two other adults in the New Orleans area were also sickened by the same strain of E. coli linked to a multi-state outbreak.

State health officials say a 21-month old New Orleans girl died last week from e.coli poisoning and that two other people in the area were infected in May.

The family of the child who died reported that they first noticed symptoms about two months ago.

Officials are trying to identify the source of the infections.

Assistant state epidemiologist, Dr. Gary Balsamo said the cases all have the same DNA fingerprints.

“They are part of a CDC cluster coming from southern states,” he said.

“Rumors that they are coming from petting zoos, are unfounded,” Balsamo said. “The CDC investigation has not yet identified the common source.”

Doctors urge people to wash their hands before handling food and to cook hamburger thoroughly.

The USDA is expanding the search for dangerous bacteria in meat.

Marksville City official charged with cruelty for neglected horses

MARKSVILLE, LA — Deputies from the Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Department recently seized three malnourished horses belonging to Marksville City Council member Elliot Jordan.

A neighbor reported that the horses were not adequately fed or supervised and were underweight. Deputy Casey Erwin visited Mr. Jordan’s property along with veterinarian Dr. Troy Spencer on May 19, 2012, and determined that three of the six horses were suffering from malnutrition. Dr. Spencer rated their body scores a 2 out of 5 points; most horses in good condition register a 4. The pasture was bare, and no feed was present on Mr. Jordan’s property during the surprise inspection.

That same day, Deputy Erwin issued Mr. Jordan a misdemeanor summons for cruelty to animals. Mr. Jordan however, refused to cooperate and walked away from Deputy Erwin during their conversation. After being ordered to stop by Deputy Erwin, Mr. Jordan locked his arms and declared that he was a member of the Marksville City Council. At this point, Deputies Allen Jackson and Erwin placed Mr. Jordan in handcuffs and escorted him to the Avoyelles Parish Detention Center, where he was booked with cruelty to animals, public intimation, and resisting an officer.
